Safe and sustainable storage of CO2

The greenest alternative?
We would not be doing our job if our operations consequently put a significant amount of CO2 into the atmosphere. That is why we are working hard towards ZERO EMISSIONS from our operations.
That goes from all aspects of our value chain; from collection and transport to injection and finally CO2 storage for decades. Where fuel is needed we will try to use green energy fuel, capture our own emissions or make our own power, and we will select reservoirs that will safely store the CO2. This means focus is a lot on using state-of-the-art technology to choose and monitor the reservoirs, at an affordable price.
Commercially viable
Transporting and storing CO2 has to be a sound, commercial business to reach its potential as a key enabler of the Paris goals. This means that the cost of capturing, transporting and storage of CO2 has to be lower than the cost of emitting the CO2.
We make every effort to reduce costs for the part of the value chain that we manage. Economies of scale play a vital role in this process, where we will collect and store CO2 efficiently, flexibly, and at a scalable rate. We need to locate and store CO2 efficiently, taking into account the location of emitters, ports, and hubs, as well as the size and number of boats. We also need to be flexible in dealing with seasonal changes in capture volume and intermediate storage. Furthermore, we must be scalable in our ability to accept CO2 from new emitters and store it in new or existing locations.
First storage in 2027
From 2027 and onwards, Normod Carbon will receive CO2 for safe sequestration in Denmark and Iceland. This will start onshore, and be followed by offshore storage in Denmark and Norway as soon as the license and operations are in place.
Our carbon transport and storage service offers emitters a flexible solution, with both onshore and offshore options available. We can accommodate a wide range of needs, including flexible start dates, variable quantities of CO2, and a choice of storage locations. Our efficient system of shuttle boats and feeders allows us to collect CO2 from harbours throughout the North Sea and Baltic Sea regions.
